Theodora “Teddi” Donovan and Calvin Wynne have always hated each other. They didn’t have a choice after Teddi’s bootlegger father killed Calvin’s and left them both orphaned. The scandal has fueled gossip in quiet, quaint Brookhurst, New York, for over a decade. When a friendship develops between them as teenagers, they are ridiculed and shunned by the strict society that dictates life in their town. As they grow older, friendship turns into love, and Teddi and Calvin have to choose between their future and the scepter of their past. Spanning continents and decades, Forget Me Not is a coming-of-age story about truth, self-reliance, and the freeing power of love.

This is the kind of book that makes me love so much to read. Since the first page I've been imediatly conquered. This book presents us the love story between Teddi and Calvin. Two youngsters who carries a huge weight from very small age. They met when they were both children and between them a huge resentment grew. Calvin the young boy who had to be sent away to an orphanage because his father was killed, and Teddi, the litlle lady that lost her mother to death and her father to jail. Yes, Teddi's father was the one blamed on killing Calvin's father. They met when they were kids just one time, but was enough to plant a seed of curiosity and, perhaps, a feeling bigger and better than hate.
As years went on Teddie grew and also Calvin, and although they went on separate paths, they were destined to meet again and outstrip that bad feeling to one another.
They meet again, and they fall in love (that didn't surprised me at all, I must say). But, not everything goes well. Teddie's family (her grandmother) does not aprove this love. And they try. They really try to overcome all problems and all obstacles, against everything and everyone. Do they succeed? Almost, I'm afraid.
Many years would pass until they reunite again. Will it be easy? No. Sorry, can't give you good news. The war was coming and he had to go and fight for his country. But, if this book taught me something is that we always have to fight for what we want the most. Teddi and Calvin, never forgot eachother and despite the distance between them, tehy present us a love bigger and stronger than life or death.
This book was one of the best that I have read in recent times. The writing is simple and loving. The way they interact whenever they are together makes us dream and wish that they can stay together. I loved how the author created the characters, their backgrounds, the way they are so strong and how they fight for what they want, for what makes them happy and complete.
Teddi and Calvin conquered my heart with their love so pure and so strong. Without a doubt Allison Withmore is an author to follow.
